PCOS – Lecture from Low Carb Denver
I recently gave a lecture with Nadia Pateguana about PCOS. While I don’t treat many patients with this problem, as I’m a nephrologist, it is Dr. Pateguana’s passion. The disease of PCOS is interesting because it is clear that it is caused by hyperinsulinemia, but yet, the standard treatments don’t address this root cause. Obviously if too much insulin causes PCOS, then you should treat the disease by lowering insulin, such as with Low Carb diets or fasting. But standard medical treatment instead prefers to give lots of drugs that don’t have anything to do with hyperinsulinemia. Check it out.
